Funding changes at Intowork will impact on the services available to LEND members.

Why These Changes Are Taking Place

Intowork is a charitable organisation whose funding primarily comes from the European Social Fund (ESF).

Recent developments around the types of activity which can be undertaken through the new ESF Framework for Scotland, means the type of network support that Intowork has provided to LEND will no longer be available under the new ESF programme. This support, which has been delivered for a number of years through Intowork’s Networks Team, has effectively ceased in its current form.

From July 2008, Intowork has been a delivery partner in the new ESF funded Edinburgh Partnership ‘Competitive Communities Programme’. We have been tasked with taking a lead role developing a consortium approach to service delivery for people with higher support needs – working with a number of support agency partners. The consortium will implement a more coordinated and consistent approach to service delivery through collaborative working and the adoption of a case management approach. This will be supported by shared practices and processes across different agencies. The ultimate benefit should be an improved and stream-lined service which benefits both disabled job seekers and their prospective employers.

What does this mean for LEND?

Intowork can justify its continued support for LEND only if its activities align more effectively with the objectives of the ESF project. In practical terms, LEND members will need to move from being recipients of training and information services, to becoming more actively involved in providing practical workplace based opportunities for people with disabilities on their route to employment.

Intowork will be working with LEND members and other employers over the coming months to implement these changes
